My official career in massage therapy began in 1999. My training has been spread out geographically and in terms of time. I first went to the Minneapolis School of Massage and Bodywork after my junior year of college. I was unsure that I really wanted to be an English teacher, though that was my chosen path at the time. I decided to take the summer to learn the basics of massage. After getting my teaching certificate and BA at Swarthmore College, I came to Pittsburgh and returned to massage school at the Career Training Academy in Monroeville. Since then I have continued to take workshops and classes such as Thai Massage (through the Birmingham Acupressure Center), Pregnancy Massage (Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy), and Myofascial Release (with John Barnes in King of Prussia, PA).

After several years with my own business, I was experiencing so much wrist pain that I thought I would have to stop giving massage. Instead, I found the Alexander Technique and had private lessons. This saved my career. I knew I wanted to be trained as a teacher so I began my studies with the Alexander Alliance, now known as The Philadelphia School for the Alexander Technique. After completing their three year program, I graduated as an Alexander Technique teacher and I am certified through Alexander Technique International.

I currently teach at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy and work with clients in my Squirrel Hill office.
